Mat Spring-Replacement Instructions

Pull the spring cover away from the area needing spring replacement. Position the rebounder upright as if you were going to bounce. Remove the spring cover (see Spring Cover Replacement instructions).

A screwdriver approximately 10 inches in length is all you need for removing and replacing mat springs. Spring removal is a matter of leverage and you will want to keep good control of the handle of the screwdriver at all times. To increase leverage and stability, place one side of the rebounder against an immobile object such as a couch. Most people find it easiest to remove a spring while kneeling directly opposite the immobile object. Do not have any part of your arms or body against or under the rebounder frame.

Read the following instructions completely before attempting to remove the springs

Hook one end of the spring into the frame pin. Position the opposite end of the spring by turning it away from the closest webbing loop. Place the end of the spring over the screwdriver shank while placing the tip of the screwdriver over the mat cleat (metal bar).
With a firm grip on the handle of the screwdriver, push forward toward the jump surface in one swift movement. As the handle moves toward the mat, the hook of the spring will slide downward toward the mat cleat.
Finally when your fingers contact the jump mat the hook of the spring will be stretched over the mat cleat. When the tip of the spring hook clears the mat cleat it will click into position. Pull the screwdriver out.

Some individuals find wearing gloves reduces discomfort when their fingers contact the jump surface. Whenever a person is working with tools it is also a good idea to consider safety glasses.

Lubricate metal contact points (spring hook to frame pin and spring hook to mat cleat) with petroleum jelly or silicone base grease. Oils such as 3-in-1 oil or WD-40 tend to drip off the spring onto the floor and therefore do not lubricate adequately. Check the condition of the lubricant every 3-4 weeks of use. If you use your rebounder only ½ hour per day, you put over 1 million bounces on the springs in the course of a year. At this usage level, we recommend replacement of the entire set of springs after 1 year of use.
